When I visited in 1974, the thought came to me as I imagined Bethlehem in the Bible to be. It was much busier this time around. In fact, I never would have recognized if from my admittedly vague memories of 1974. And yes, we did stay over night in the dorm facilities, I think for 2 nights. We stayed up all the night of ShaviatriI, mostly at the temple. How I envy you for all the darshans of Dadaji you must have. I might possibly get to India again this winter, but more likely 2009. I would certainly love to visit with you. I vividly recollect my conversation with Ramanbhai Patel at Shiviatri after Rajarshi had given him a hug and how ecstatic he was and how humble he was. I instantly loved him immensely. He also invited me to visit with him next time I came, so I now have three glorious reasons for visiting Kavyorohan again, Dadaji, Ramanbhai Patel and Indukanta! Dadaji darshan time, quiet, simple living with lots of sadhana. The house has a wonderful garden that I spend time in too. It is in the outskirts of the village in a small cluster of homes known as Darunagar Society, with mostly farm fields around and is less then a 5 min walk to the temple Ramanbhai Patel? He is a delightful man. His family has not only done lots for the temple but the whole village too, including establishing a rural trade school that has provided education to many boys who would otherwise not have that opportunity. This past Shiva Ratri had a larger then usual crowd because of RM's heading into secluded practice. It is only that one day a year - -a town gone crazy - -then back to quietness . . . that is after the carnival leaves and except for wedding season when music and fireworks go on all night some times. Did you stay all night ? There is so much happening ; in the temple; the all night puja, and the wild all night dancing procession though the village . . . I was at Kayavarohan for Shiviatri in February and had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Patel, whose family has done so much in supporting the temple complex. He's a beautiful man. The price was sticker shock to me and I reacted with no self editing. Putting it into context, that price is about what the average Indian makes in two years. That same amount sustains my good sized house , all bills, 2 staff, one to two trips to Vadodara a month for provisions with the splurge of a meal and an occasional movie for about 5 months. So I am coming from that perspective. I am sure that the training is outstanding and is well worth the price of the room and board fee. I am grateful that RM has written the books that he has in English. I especially enjoy Infinite Grace. I have had the honor of several small group darshans with him that have been meaningful. I have heard other Indian teachers say that they price things higher for westerners so his practice of that is not singular to Life Mission. It was just shocking to see, coming from my simple perspective. If you are in Kayavarohan again , stop by for a visit. I know Acharya had to travel to Vadodara a couple of times a week to shop for groceries. The food was absolutely great as were the accommodations. The fees included group tours. The last thing that occurred to me was that it was overpriced. If the training hadn't been included I still would have been very satisfied. But I guess its all in how we view things and what are expectations are.
