Ex-Kripalu Volunteer Reunion?

Hey everybody,

This message is for anyone who spent time at Kripalu as a volunteer, whether it was through Seva, SLP, or KYLP or anyone who knows former volunteers and could pass the info along to them.

I was a volunteer at Kripalu from December 2002-May 2004 - seva, SLP, KYLP, and staff.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about my time at Kripalu as well as the recent changes Kripalu has been making to the volunteer program (among other things). I've also been thinking about how much the connections I made at Kripalu meant to me, and about some of the insecurities/inauthenticities/issues that kept me from fully connecting with everybody or from keeping in touch with all the people who really made a difference in my life.

I would love to put together a reunion event to bring together anyone who spent time at Kripalu as a volunteer. I think it would be an incredible way to reconnect and to integrate all of the different experiences we've had in the years since Kripalu opened. I know it would also help me (and hopefully others) get some completion/resolution in the midst of all the changes to the volunteer programs, which would allow me to more fully integrate the lessons I learned at Kripalu into my life. And it would help people to rekindle old connections and establish ourselves as a community - even though we're all scattered around the globe, we share a powerful history and we can make an incredible difference in the world.

I'm sending this out as a "feeler" to see what you guys think. Does the idea inspire you? What do you see as possible if a reunion event were to occur? Do you have ideas of things that could be included to make the event more powerful? Where do you think it could be held - near/at Kripalu or in a more central location?

I am thinking really big... I'm not putting any limitations on what's possible for this event. So put yourself out there and think big with me! I would love to hear any ideas that you have. You can leave a comment here or e-mail me (akingsto@yahoo.com) or call me (317-448-7761). I really want to hear from you. I'm taking this project on, but it won't really be powerful without other people's participation. One of the biggest lessons I learned during my time at Kripalu was how powerful community can be... I want this project to come from that same space... I want it to be a community project... and I want it to work for everybody involved, not just for me.

I'm really excited about the possibility. Please share this with anyone else that you know who volunteered at Kripalu - make sure to pass along my contact info so they can get in touch with me and let me know what they think. Let's get this going and see where we end up!

Lots of love,

Amy Kingston (January 2003 SLP Family)
